Our Story

Yarn Over Hook began as a simple crochet project tracker created by Founder Roman Thompson for his mother, Regina (ReRe) — a lifelong crocheter.

What started as a small Notion template soon became the spark for something much larger: the realization that crochet, despite its beauty and history, lacked a true home.

Together with his sister Sammi, Roman and ReRe set out to change that — building the home crochet deserves.

Today, Yarn Over Hook is more than a brand — it’s the global home of crochet, uniting makers worldwide through an online community, lifestyle brand, and content network dedicated to the craft.

Built by makers, for makers, Yarn Over Hook celebrates culture, community, and creativity — helping crocheters everywhere Create, Learn, and Connect.

Sammi Jai — Head of Video Production & Crochet Instructor with Yarn Over Hook

An experienced crochet artist and engaging teacher, Sammi leads our YouTube Channel, instruction, and live programming. Her tutorials and designs empower crocheters of all levels to expand their skills and embrace new challenges.

Ms. ReRe — Host of Exploration Crochet, Blogger, Editor of Last Week in Crochet

With more than three decades of crochet experience, she brings an artisan’s touch to the Yarn Over Hook Network. As host of Exploration Crochet and editor of Last Week in Crochet, she shares maker stories, fiber news, and creative inspiration with a global audience. Her deep knowledge and love for the craft guide the community and ensure every piece of content delivers lasting value to makers everywhere.

Roman Grant — Founder

With a background in product management, user-centered design, and community building, Roman launched Yarn Over Hook to create a modern, inclusive home for the crochet world. His vision drives the platform’s growth and ensures that the maker experience stays at the heart of everything we do.
